Description

‘Mystery Blue’ is an airy, upright to spreading bush, with dark green leaves on green stems. Very floriferous, flowers are blue to blue-grey and honey scented.
A really good, all round garden plant that can be planted in almost any location, suiting flower beds and borders, wall side borders, fences, banks or slopes. Ceanothus in varieties also works well when grown in a container.
Generally, pest free and minimal pruning makes Ceanothus a good plant for low maintenance gardens.
Grows well in a sunny sheltered position. After flowering, prune the shoots by one third and remove any dead or damaged branches. Feed and mulch to provide the nutrients needed.
Likes moist well drained soil. Unlike other Ceanothus this variety will grow on chalk but worth noting although lime tolerant it may become chlorotic on shallow chalk soils.
Final height: 1.5m-2.5m tall, 2.5-4m wide.
RHS Award of Garden Merit.
