Prunus padus – (Bird Cherry)

Commonly known as Bird Cherry, is a native deciduous tree valued for its elegant habit and profuse spring flowering. In late spring, it produces long, drooping racemes of fragrant white flowers, which are attractive to pollinators. Fresh green leaves emerge and turn soft yellow then bronze in autumn. Small black cherries follow the flowers, providing food for birds and wildlife. Ideal for naturalistic planting, woodland gardens and parks, it thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. Prunus padus typically reaches 7-12 metres in height offering seasonal interest.
