This unusual grass takes its name from the horizontal creamy-white bands on the leaves, which usually appear in late summer. Although its foliage is its main attraction, it also has silky spikelets, with small thin reddish-purple flowers in summer, lasting well into winter. A low maintenance versatile choice, it looks fantastic in many design schemes.
Prefers moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates partial shade. Protect from excessive winter wet.
Mature Height: 1-1.5metres
