Acer palmatum ‘Sode-nishiki’ is an eye-catching Japanese maple valued for its beautifully changing foliage. The leaves emerge bright yellow before turning orange with red tints and then maturing to green for the summer. In autumn the leaves turn shades of orange and scarlet. Compact and slow growing, it is ideal for small gardens, containers or as a specimen in a sheltered border. Best grown in partial shade, ‘Sode-nishiki’ prefers moist, well-drained soil and protection from strong winds and hot sun.
