Description

Cornus florida subsp. urbiniana is a rare subspecies of flowering dogwood native to central Mexico, celebrated for its distinctive floral display. In spring, it produces large, white bracts that clasp at the tips, giving the appearance of lanterns. The dark green foliage provides a beautiful contrast to the white bracts, and in autumn, the leaves turn vibrant shades of red and purple, enhancing its seasonal beauty. This small to medium-sized tree grows to about 6–8 metres tall and thrives in moist but well-drained, neutral to acidic soil in full sun, making it perfect for garden borders or as a specimen tree.
