Mahonia x media ‘Winter Sun’

Mahonia × media ‘Winter Sun’ is an evergreen shrub valued for its dramatic winter flowering and bold foliage. From late autumn through winter, upright spikes of bright yellow, sweetly scented flowers appear above the glossy, dark green, spiny leaves, bringing colour and fragrance to the garden when little else is in bloom. The flowers are followed by blue-black berries. Ideal for borders, woodland gardens and shaded areas, it thrives in full shade or partial shade and grows in most soils. Mahonia ‘Winter Sun’ typically reaches 4 metres in height with a spread of around 2.5 metres, providing year-round structure and valuable winter interest.
