A survey during lockdown has shown that house property searches have changed dramatically. Kitchens are no longer the deal breaker with a private garden now top of the “must have” list.
People’s priorities have shifted, after weeks of being told to “stay at home” combined with an unseasonably hot April and May. The focus is now firmly on gardens and outside space as people seek a change in lifestyle. According to Ideal Home, searches by potential buyers for homes with gardens were up 42% in May 2020, compared to May 2019. With the same search even higher for renters, up 84%.

The good news is if you have a garden your home’s curb appeal has already increased so why not make the most of it and maximise it’s full potential – not only for your own enjoyment but to future proof your home.

Spending more time at home for months on end has certainly made us appreciate what outside space we own but it’s also highlighted potential areas we would like to change. People are clamouring to redesign their gardens to really make the space work for them. Lockdown has shone a light on any flaws and deficits gardens might have. Now is the time, if you can, to invest in your garden because you are one of the lucky ones.
