  • In addition to our big plants and trees we also offer a selection of Herbaceous perennials. Emerging fresh in spring, these small but mighty plants are great for filling borders with colour in summer and often carry interest well into autumn. Their yearly cycle keeps the garden feeling alive#softlandscaping

Shade‑tolerant plants can be limited, but Dicentra spectabilis (Bleeding Heart, featured) thrives in part shade and brightens those quieter corners of the garden. Its fern like foliage adds a gentle, airy texture that softens the whole border.

  • Most Camellias have big, showy blooms, but Camellia rosthorniana Cupido (‘Elina’) is all about refinement. Its flowers are small, bell‑shaped, and gently nodding, like little porcelain lanterns. ‘Cupido’ fits beautifully into smaller gardens, courtyards or mixed borders without overwhelming the space.

Height 1.5m. Spread 1m. Grow in acidic soil in a sheltered position and partial shade.

  • Commonly known as Juneberry, Amelanchier lamarckii is a small tree that seems to carry all four seasons in its branches. In early spring, it opens with a soft haze of white blossom, as if the tree has been dusted with light. These delicate flowers drift into early summer, where they give way to small, dusky purple‑black berries; a gentle offering for our native birds.

Its leaves emerge with a warm bronze blush, catching the low spring sun before settling into fresh green. By autumn, they flare into vivid oranges and reds, turning the tree into a quiet fire at the edge of the garden. With its upright, graceful habit and manageable height of 5–7 metres, crucially it brings structure without heaviness, colour without excess, and a sense of calm that shifts beautifully through the year.

Wildlife finds it irresistible, blossom for pollinators and berries for birds. An understated classic that won’t date over time.
