  • Styphnolobium japonicum (Japanese pagoda tree) is a large, elegant deciduous tree. Valued for its late‑summer white flowers, tolerance of urban pollution and long lifespan. It thrives in full sun and well‑drained soils and can reach up to 25 metres. In summer it will burst into fragrant, creamy‑white, pea‑shaped flowers, each about 12 mm, gathered in showy clusters at the branch tips. Great for seasonal interest: Summer: Masses of creamy‑white flowers in panicles up to 30 cm long Autumn: Yellowing foliage; decorative seed pods Winter: Architectural branching and persistent pods
