Elegant but tough this eye-catching bamboo has deep ruby red steams at maturity which contrast highly with the classic long lance shaped olive-green leaves. This bamboo gives an architectural structural feel with a flowing movement, it is low maintenance and perfect for privacy screening and blocking road noise. To get the most out of these colourful stems you can cut back some of the lower foliage, to really show off the contrasting colours for a tropical style of garden. It is a non-invasive clump forming, performing best in moist but well-draining soil with partial shade to full sun in a more sheltered environment.
