Description
A favourite of ours, this crab apple has the most beautiful and profuse display of flower in spring. The buds start bright red and then flowers open to a brilliant white. The foliage appears a glossy green colour in spring, turning to golden yellow later in autumn. Miniature ‘Gala’ like apples appear and can remain on the tree until picked off by birds. This small tree is perfect for a small garden and will give interest all year round.
Malus ‘Evereste’ was introduced in the early 1980s and won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002.
Ideally plant with an early flowering tree such as a Magnolia or an early flowering cherry, to extend the blossom colour. We recommend rabbit guards for these trees where deer and rabbits are present.
This marvellous tree forms a small, regular and compact crown. A tough performer it will thrive in most soils. A good choice for planting in clay soils.
This tree is very wildlife friendly.
