An upright crab bred in Canada in the early 1950s. The foliage is so dark it is advisable not to plant too many as it can make a garden quite dark. Large purple-crimson flowers turn to dark red fruits, shiny rich purple foliage turns a vivid red in autumn.
Ascending branches give ‘Royalty’ a broadly columnar form.
A small to medium tree suitable for most gardens and parks and good for contrast.
If you live in an area prone to rabbits or deer then we recommend rabbit guards.
This tree is bee friendly.
