This dwarf mountain pine is another popular favourite. Gardeners love it for its hardiness and elegant nature and its rounded appearance is not dissimilar to a bonsai tree. This slow growing drought resistant pine can be used in many schemes but is most commonly used in borders and ideal in rocky winter gardens.
It prefers full sun with well-drained loamy soil but can tolerate partial shade and is adaptable to other soil types, prefers cool summer climates and is tolerant of urban conditions. Spring pruning will thicken the plant and assist in maintaining a dwarf form.
