A clump forming, evergreen bamboo with dark purple to black canes and slender green leaves. Its compact, dense habit makes it excellent for hedging and screening. It can also be grown in containers provided it is kept in moist but well-drained soil. It prefers partial shade but can tolerate full sun of the soil remains reliably moist. Exposed positions should be avoided. Height 3-4m Spread 1.5-2.5m
