Description
Acer platanoides ‘Princeton Gold’ is a bright golden leaved cultivar of the Norway Maple, Acer platanoides. This tree, like the species, has subtle yellow flowers that appear in spring, however they can get a little lost against the emerging foliage which is a sunny and bright golden yellow. With the foliage slowly changing in colour as the summer progresses, finishing mostly green, the UK climate is perfect for it, and the leaf colour making it one of the best “yellow leaf” trees available.
This medium sized golden maple tree produces an oval crown and fits well into planting schemes where contrast is needed, shown most effectively when planted with a deep green or red foliage nearby.
Like its parent, ‘Princeton Gold’ is a tough performer tolerant of most soil types, and good for air pollution and drought conditions.
