Betula utilis var. jacquemontii ‘Doorenbos’ or Snow Queen is an extremely popular tree. With striking white bark and architectural interest it can be planted as a standard and a multi-stem coppice and can be planted singularly and in groups. It’s a versatile tree that is extremely well suited to a wide range of planting schemes in the UK, from urban planting right through to gardens and parklands.
Like other Birch, the significant interest of this tree is in its bark. As it peels each year it reveals a new layer of pure white bark which is accentuated by lenticels lines.
A medium sized delicate oval shaped tree with ascending branches that produce a neat and tidy broadly pyramidal shaped crown. Dark green leaves which turn golden yellow in the autumn.
Tolerant of most soil types. Available as a single stem or multi stem specimen this tree is a good option for a feature tree.
